Welcome to the MSCASA Website: A Note from the Director

Welcome to the Mississippi Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s (MSCASA) website.  We have worked hard to develop and gather educational materials, training sessions, information requests and other resources on sexual assault that will help practitioners, treatment providers, survivors, and family members looking for more information on this important issue.

If there is information you cannot find on our website, you can contact us directly at PHONE NUMBER between the hours of TIME and TIME. If you are in crisis or need immediate help, you should call the Rape Crisis Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673).

Mississippi Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s (MSCASA) ability to train on a variety of sexual assault issues and related topics has allowed us to train a broad range of service providers throughout the state. Our training applies to advocates, counselors, health care providers, grassroots, K-12, colleges, youth organizations, colleges and universities, military, educators, faith-based institutions, criminal justice, and the general public.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT

SEXUAL ASSAULT NURSE EXAMINER (SANE)

October 2019

A sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) is a registered nurse with at least 40 hours of specialized training. The training enables the RN to:

  • Provide comprehensive care to sexual assault victims
  • Conduct a forensic exam
  • Testify effectively in court

The SANE program benefits a sexual assault victim by streamlining the process of providing comprehensive medical treatment while facilitating the collection of evidence.
